Devs, please admit you ripped off Undertale change the text of the Easy mode difficulty to be a bit less ambiguous on what a 'Newcomer to Cave Story' really is.

#Cave story easy mode full
Otherwise, would you recommend I skip Normal mode and go straight to Hard mode, or perhaps I should go through it smoothly? Since I already have full knowledge of every single level's enemy placements, secrets, etc from my first Easy mode playthrough, I feel like I should skip to Hard mode, but at the same time, Hard mode might be as difficult as Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight's Hard mode (AKA you get one shot by literally everything), so I'm not really sure. I'll try and replay it in Normal difficulty and get the collectables, perhaps 100% it if I really start to enjoy the gameplay enough, but Easy mode was probably the most boring gaming experience I've had since The Evil Within. The game should seriously be more distinct on what a 'newcomer to Cave Story' is, because if I knew they meant 'newcomer to platformer shooters', then I would've played on Normal or Hard mode and had a much better, challenging time. I know that I'm good at platformers like these, but I'm also a newcomer to Cave Story as a whole. I beat the three bosses in the last level of the game on my first try and I beat the game in four hours. After all, I've never played this game before". I figured "hey, the game's probably pretty hard or unique compared to others, so I'll just follow the game's recommendation and put it on Easy. So one day, through my friend's shared library, I installed and booted Cave Story+ and got to the difficulty select screen, where it gave me three options: Easy, Normal, and Hard.Įasy said 'Recommended for Newcomers to Cave Story'. I'm good with lemon-shooting-jump-man style gameplay, but the only thing I have ever seen of Cave Story is the fact that it's pretty neat, retro, and there's a lot of Rule34 of Curly Brace. In addition to the awards, defeating Horntail in any difficult will award all alive party members the Horntail Dominator buff, which boosts mapler's Attack Power and Magic Attack by 40, and increasing DEF by 400 for an hour.I've never played Undertale Cave Story before, but I've played plenty of other platformers of its calibre. His body is not dangerous unless physically touched, but only when all parts are reduced to zero HP is he finally defeated.Įasy Horntail can award up to 4,611,597 EXP (excluding killing the dragon summons), Normal can award up to 4,611,597 EXP (46,116,000 EXP in GMS) and Chaos will award 8,473,319 EXP (84,733,200 EXP in GMS). (It is recommended that players destroy this part first aside from the poison its touch attack can do upwards of 27, 000 points of damage, or 33,000 when buffed.) His Tail also has an earthquake attack and can summon a poison mist cloud. His Legs have an earthquake stomp attack with a powerful knockback that can also stun. His Wings can heal both the HP and MP of the rest of the body and can summon Green Cornians and Dark Cornians. His Right Arm and Left Arm can Dispel and Seduce and drain MP. In chaos mode, the left head can cast Physical Reflect, and the right head can cast Magical Reflect. All three heads can cast Weapon Cancel and Magic Cancel. The left and right heads have 100,000,000 HP in easy mode, 330,000,000 HP each on normal mode and 3,300,000,000 HP in chaos mode. In the main fight, his Left Head and Right Head retain some of the abilities from the preliminary battled, while the middle Head uses Fire-based attacks and skills, as well as summon Wyverns. Horntail as a whole consists of his three heads, two arms, wings, legs, and tail. The Right Head is similar, but uses Electric attacks.

The Left Head has ice-based attacks, can summon Red Wyverns, Blue Wyverns (not in easy mode), and Dark Wyvern (2 at a time), can create spiked tombstones on the floor (below the platform) and cast Weapon Cancel and Magic Cancel. The party must defeat all of them to win the Boss Battle.īefore the main battle, the party must fight the Right Head and Left Head in two preliminary battles. Horntail is a Boss that, much like Gollux, consists of multiple body parts that appear in different maps.
